As of 28th April 2025, the Practice will be changing the way you book GP and Advanced Nurse Practitioner appointments. Our bookable ‘on the day’ appointments, which are released at 8am each morning, will be for patients who present with more urgent, acute issues e.g. chest infections, severe abdominal pain, fever, etc. To accommodate this reduction in ‘on the day’ appointments, we will be releasing more pre-bookable appointments, which can be booked up to 4 weeks ahead. We will therefore be directing patients who present with routine issues to book ahead rather than calling at 8am for a ‘on the day’ appointment. Examples of routine issues include medication reviews, follow up appointments to discuss test results, etc. This allows us to ensure you are seen in a timely matter by the correct clinician. It also means that it won’t be necessary to phone at 8am for an appointment that can wait, lessening the early morning demand and busy phone lines. If you call for an ‘on the day’ appointment and there are none remaining, and your request is thought to be urgent then you will be offered a call-back from the Emergency Doctor (as is our current process). With the increase in pre-bookable appointments, we are keen to reduce the risk of patients forgetting their appointment and failing to attend. To avoid this, please ensure that we have your up-to-date contact details and have consented to receive SMS appointment reminders from the Practice (if you have not yet consented, please complete a form at the desk). We would be grateful if you could share this with friends and family who are registered with the Practice.
